In the News...Congratulations, College of Fellows Class of 2016

Feb 12, 2016

By: Sara Johnson

The American Institute of Architects released the names today of the newest members of the College of Fellows. This year, there are 157 new members of the college (149 AIA members and eight international architects), an increase over last year, when 147 members became FAIA and five architects became Hon. FAIA.

In order to qualify for membership in the College of Fellows, architects must have been AIA members for at least 10 years. Members are elevated based on five categories:

1. Promoted the aesthetic, scientific, and practical efficiency of the profession

2. Advanced the science and art of planning and building by advancing the standards of architectural education, training and practice

3. Coordinated the building industry and the profession of architecture through leadership in the AIA or other related professional organizations

4. Advanced the living standards of people through an improved environment

5. Made the profession of ever-increasing service to society
