Health & Human Services Building

Coppin State University

Location Baltimore, Maryland

The Health & Human Services Building was the first campus facility located on the South Campus, establishing an identity for the expansion of the University as the first of five new structures.

The Health & Human Services Building provides state-of-the-art, technology based classrooms and learning environments for:

  • The Division of Graduate Studies;
  • The Division of Nursing;
  • Criminal Justice, Social Work, and Applied Psychology and Rehabilitation Counseling Departments;
  • Various community outreach and clinical programs that are integral to the mission of the College.

This building has two missions – to promote the University’s commitment to the struggling community by virtue of its expansive clinical and community outreach programs within the HHSB, and to establish a signature building for the new South Campus. The building design uses brick in response to the surrounding context, but uses curtainwall glazing, tall glass expanses and architectural metals to create a signature design representing the forward-looking and contemporary mindset of the University.
