Longtime principal and firm leader will guide the next chapter of the award-winning multidisciplinary design practice
Design Collective is pleased to announce that Michael “Mike” Goodwin has been named President of the firm, marking a significant leadership transition for our national multidisciplinary design practice.
Mike’s appointment is the culmination of more than three decades of leadership, mentorship, and dedicated service to Design Collective’s clients and teams. Since joining the firm in 1992 as a project architect, he has advanced to principal and become a trusted leader in multifamily and mixed-use development. Through his work, Mike has helped shape residential, retail, and workplace environments across the country, into thriving, people-centered places and communities.
Over the course of his career, Mike has built enduring relationships with nationally recognized developers, including Hanover Company, Hines, Kettler, LCOR, and Bozzuto. His engaged and collaborative approach to project leadership and client relationship management has established a high standard across Design Collective’s practice areas and strengthened the firm’s reputation for thoughtful, responsive, and impactful design.
“Mike’s leadership has been essential to Design Collective’s growth, culture, and direction,” said outgoing President, Fred Marino, who is set to retire in the Fall. “He brings a rare combination of technical expertise, strategic vision, generosity, and humility. His ability to mentor teams, earn client trust, and guide complex projects has made a lasting impact on our firm and the communities we serve.”
As President, Mike will continue to advance Design Collective’s mission of crafting inspirational places that enrich lives and empower communities. He will work closely with and mentor the firm’s leadership team to support its people, deepen client partnerships, and guide strategic growth across its architecture, planning, interiors, landscape architecture, and graphics disciplines.
