The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Mid-Atlantic Chapter presented Design Collective two Chapter Awards at their 11th annual IIDA Mid-Atlantic Chapter Design Awards Ceremony, The Premiere. Awards were won in two categories. In recognition of our exceptional interior design, we received a gold award in Commercial (between 20,000 and 100,000 square feet) for 180s Corporate World Headquarters and a silver award in Educational/ Institution for the Art Academy of Cincinnati.
180s, an innovator in performance wear, relocated their headquarters to long-vacant Hall of Exploration at the Columbus Center. Design Collective was hired to not only provide programming services and planning expertise during the real estate search, but was also retained to design the workplace. The renovated 50,000 square foot headquarters was designed to encourage interaction and the sharing of innovative ideas thus supporting the 180s mission to push beyond the status quo.
The silver award winning Art Academy of Cincinnati project, began when the Art Academy decided to relocate their institution to two historic buildings in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine district. Design Collective included the use of sustainable design principles to turn these two buildings into one combined location for the 300 students, that includes an enhanced student life area and instructional areas for the students to learn their craft. By addressing the ecological, economical, historical and social aspects of the project, Design Collective anticipates “LEED-Silver” Certification for the Art Academy’s sustainable design.
