Design Collective was recognized with a 2014 Innovator Award for “Best On-Campus Architecture/Design” by Student Housing Business Magazine for the design of the new Living-Learning Community on the Livingston campus of Rutgers – The State University of New Jersey. The project was selected from over 110 nominees vying for the distinction. The award was presented during the 6th annual InterFace Student Housing Conference in Austin, Texas. The Living-Learning Community at Rutgers created a new hub for student life and a dynamic edge for the campus with a 648,000 square foot mixed-use complex comprised of residential, retail and amenity spaces for 1,500 students. The buildings feature spacious study lounges and flexible tiered classrooms that convert into movie theatres at night, a campus diner, and a sustainably landscaped plaza that connects the campus and the surrounding neighborhood.
