Curbed Philadelphia

By: Melissa Romero

Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, a dive into the options available for a certain price point in various Philly neighborhoods. This week is a special Micro Week addition, which means we’re taking a look at studios for rent at various price points in various new apartment high-rises scattered throughout Philly, from Vue32 in University City to 1213 Walnut in Washington Square West. Is one person's loft another person’s townhouse? Let's find out!

Washington Square West (Studio, 1 bath)—The 26-story tower 1213 Walnut in the center of Philadelphia is quickly nearing its end of summer completion date, but it’s already prepping for its August 1 move-ins. The smallest studio available here clocks in at 433 square feet and is located on the fifth floor. There’s also in-unit laundry and access to the building’s long list of amenities. Monthly rent starts at $1,819.

Market West (Studio, 1 bath)—Over at 1919 Market is this 459-square-foot studio available for rent for $1,819 a month—but you’ll have to wait until October to move into the space. The pet-friendly studio does offer in-unit laundry, and access to the building’s rooftop pool and amenity lounge.

Old City (Studio, 1 bath)—At the Bridge on Race Street in Old City, there is a 469-square-foot studio up for grabs, renting for $1,780 a month. Also a pet-friendly abode, the studio has in-unit laundry and a dishwasher, plus access to the building’s amenities, multiple terraces, and roof deck.

North Broad (Studio, 1 bath)—You’ll have to wait until September 15 to move into this pad at Hanover North Broad, but its 529 square feet makes it the biggest studio available for rent on this list. The monthly rent of $1,830 gets you perks like a built-in desk, in-unit laundry, and a sleeping area that’s slightly separated from the living space, so it feels like more of a one-bedroom than a studio. It’s also offering up to two months free.

University City (Studio, 1 bath)—Rounding out this list of tiny studios is this 494-square-foot unit in the 16-story Vue 32 tower adjacent to Drexel University’s campus. It’s technically a junior one-bedroom, as there is a wall that separates the sleeping area from the living room. It also happens to be the cheapest unit on this list, asking $1,700 in monthly rent. The building is also offering up to two months free.
