Design Collective is part of the development team that will redevelop a vacant 1.1-acre lot owned by Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, at the intersection of St. Paul and Charles Streets in Charles Village. The new development will likely include a vibrant mix of retail, residential and structured parking, as well as potential for hospitality and/or office components. Armada Hoffler, a real estate construction and management firm based in Virginia Beach, Va., is leading the development in collaboration with Beatty Development Group LLC and Skye Hospitality LLC, both based in Baltimore. Michael Beatty, of Beatty Development Group and former president of Harbor East Development Group, has extensive experience with projects in Baltimore. Jointly with his former company, Beatty and Armada Hoffler constructed over 5.5 million square feet in Harbor East. The development team was chosen by a committee of trustees and administrators from more than 27 proposals solicited by Johns Hopkins. Community engagement, planning and design work is expected to commence in early spring, in close coordination with the surrounding community and with Johns Hopkins students, faculty and administrators, as well as Baltimore City officials.
