The Fitzgerald was announced among the winners of this year’s Urban Land Institute (ULI) Awards for Excellence. This competition is widely considered the land use industry’s most prestigious awards program, recognizing the full development process of a project, not just its architecture or design. In total, only ten outstanding developments from 148 entries, throughout North and South America, were selected as winners. Design Collective worked with The Bozzuto Group and the University of Baltimore to transform an existing brownfield into a dynamic transit-oriented, mixed-use residential building in Baltimore’s Mount Vernon district. The Fitzgerald consists of 275 luxury apartments, 24,000 square feet of street-level retail and dining venues plus a 1,245 space public parking garage. This award marks Design Collective’s fourth ULI Award for Excellence for projects including the adaptive re-use of The Power Plant in Baltimore, Maryland and the design of Bayou Place in Houston, Texas.
