The renovation of Elkton Hall is the third residence hall in the high-rise renovation program at the University of Maryland College Park designed by Design Collective. Originally built in 1964 and located on the north side of campus in the Denton Community, Elkton Hall is an eight-story, 114,118 gsf residence hall and houses approximately 520 students. Budgeted at $8.5 million, the renovation will introduce updated mechanical systems, insulated glazing and exterior walls to replace and improve on the efficiency of the aged building systems. High performance aluminum windows will replace original single-pane aluminum windows. Additionally, Elkton Hall’s main lobby will undergo a major aesthetic renovation to create a more welcoming reception and resident experience. Construction is scheduled to occur in three phases during the summers of 2011, 2012 and 2013.
