Tanyard Shores Community Center

Along the banks of Marley Creek is the new community center for Tanyard Shores. The community development along the river is designed as a home for active, well living. The development is designed with interactive walking and bike trails that weave through the community and tie the site together. The trails and pathways all come to the center of the development, intersecting at the community center parcel. The active nature of the community design is embodied in the community center building. The building is designed with a large flexible fitness center, and a flexible fitness classroom that opens to the exterior for indoor and outdoor fitness classes. The building's architecture and massing expresses the architectural history of the Maryland waterfront, while blending in contemporary materials and amenities.

Outside the building, the site is activated with a bike pump track, playground, dog park, community pool and outdoor grilling and assembly area for residents. The great room opens to an outdoor seating area for informal gatherings for residents. The fitness area opens to outdoor green for outdoor fitness classes. Across from the building, the pool house also features a pavilion for outdoor events, that fronts a community green that accommodates summer movies, free play and neighborhood events.
