Comcast Arena

University of Maryland, College Park

Location College Park, Maryland
Partners Ellebe Beckett

The Comcast Arena is located within the heart of the revitalized North Campus of The University of Maryland, College Park.

The Arena was designed to be compatible with the architectural style of the campus, yet leave a distinctive impression on its visitors as well as its full time occupants.  For ACC Basketball games, the Arena offers 17,000+ seats with unobstructed views, 4,000 of which immediately surround the floor and are "reserved" for the student population.

Included within the seating bowl of the Arena are twenty corporate suites, a space for Terrapin Club members (400 standing) to gather to games and events, as well as concessions and restroom facilities.  In addition, the building is also the new "home" to the Athletic Department and its various administrative offices in conjunction with coach's offices for the men's and women's basketball, gymnastics, volleyball, tennis and wrestling programs.  Associated with these programs are new locker rooms, fully equipped training and physical therapy facilities, a practice gymnasium, wrestling room, a student academic/tutoring center and a team store for visitors and fans to purchase sports clothing and memorabilia.

The Comcast Arena was constructed at a cost of approximately $126 million.  This includes the creation and selective extension of the infrastructure for roads, utilities and much needed additional parking.
