Arrowwood

LCOR

Location North Bethesda, Maryland

Arrowwood is the next phase of development at North Bethesda Center by LCOR in collaboration with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. The development is a mix of offices and housing designed around the White Flint Metro Station.

Arrowwood consists of 294 apartments and amenity spaces situated over a podium level of parking that are tucked into the hill as the site falls from north to south. The building’s main entry and amenity spaces front a public green and the façade is pulled back and opened to create a visual and physical link from the public green space to the interior courtyard. The façade materials are composed to create a dynamic frame acting as a large scale urban window facing the public green. As the building turns the corner, the façade treatment steps down in scale to modulate along the block creating a rhythm along the streetscape in scale with the residential use.

The building design features a center courtyard that is organized around a projecting wing in the center containing the fitness and wellness amenities with units above. The projecting wing allows for the natural division of the courtyard from more public uses toward the front to private residential spaces to the rear of the courtyard. The courtyard contains numerous fireplaces, fountain and outdoor grilling areas for residents.
