Hanover Clearfork
The Hanover Company
The George is Design Collective’s 12th multi-family project across the country in an 18 year relationship with The Hanover Company.
Located in Southwest Fort Worth, Clearfork’s ambitious mixed-use masterplan calls for 1.2M SF of retail, 2M SF of office, and 2,500 multifamily units. The George is the second residential phase, delivering 397 units adjacent to 470,000 SF of regional retail and entertainment. The site rests one block from the Clearfork Trinity Riverfront, at the Chisholm Parkway trail-head for car-free commuting and recreation.
The site strategy of this early phase was to define strong street edges, with an emphasis on maximizing light and views to the garden courtyard within. The modern design takes cues from indigenous Texas architecture and the Edwards Ranch which operated on-site for over 170 years, while blending with other new buildings of the immediate development to become part of the broader campus. The George’s material palette blends a clean white masonry reflecting modern urban life with rich organic tones weaving throughout. Influenced by the dense shade afforded by the Ranch’s Cathedral Oaks, wood cladding with deep overhangs populate the penthouse level to provide strong definition against the sky. Primary facades and entry/access points are positioned along primary circulation paths through the larger development to optimize connections to adjacent retail, office uses, and recreation amenities. An open-air loggia provides glimpses and access into the central courtyard, allowing the exterior’s material palette to seamlessly flow throughout the clubhouse experience to the garden within.
